At some point in our lives we all have to get up there and speak to an audience. For some it may come easy but for others the fear of public speaking may be great, but for both there are certain tips that will help the speaker address for success.
Keynote speaker, trainer and author Michael Virardi will be giving an intensive course on just that on September 14 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Limassol.
The course, named Address for Success, Speaking in Public: How to Win Over an Audience, will give all participants the tools needed to think well and express themselves clearly. With these tools at hand, speakers can demonstrate their expertise in any subject and show others that they know what they are talking about.
Yes, we may all be able to communicate but few people are able to connect with an audience. This course aims to give more people that push and the know-how to make an audience really listen to what they have to say.
Virardi explains that after we listen to speakers who have had us hanging on their every word, we sometimes call them inspirational and charismatic, and wonder what they have that we don’t. The answer, he says, is nothing, they have simply been trained, have practiced time and time again and are now efficient at communicating.
During the seven-hour intensive course participants will learn how to overcome their fears of public speaking, how to prepare keynotes or short presentations while leaving nothing to chance, how to structure speeches and presentations in such a way as to maintain the audience’s full attention and interest, how to speak naturally, how to establish rapport with the audience, how to incorporate stories and personal experiences into a speech to illustrate your argument, and how to avoid the most common mistakes that untrained speakers make.
But how can one man help us achieve all this? Well, Virardi has 15 years’ experience of public speaking and has given more than 200 speeches, addresses and presentations during this time. In the past two years he has addressed 20,000 people in 12 countries.
The keynote speaker has decided to put his knowledge to good use after “receiving so many requests from people from all walks of life – company CEOs, students, customer care professionals, lawyers, teachers, parents and others – who need to make a public presentation and are totally stressed out by the thought,” he said.
During the course, participants will be given the chance to give a brief keynote speech or short presentation if they want. If you have a speech or presentation coming up, you can work on that. The presentation given will be recorded and analysed. At the end of the course you will be able to take the recording with you so you can refer back to it in the future.
All participants will receive a certificate and a signed copy of Virardi’s book Crisis? Let’s Beat It! Lunch and two coffee breaks will also be included. Also, after the course, Virardi will also be available to you for advice or to give you further guidelines – just drop him an e-mail or give him a call.
