Expressing themselves through hip hop

We have had our jazz festivals, our reggae festivals, our festivals with wind instruments and now to end this month of musical gatherings, it is time for the Hip-Hop festival to hit Nicosia.

In the heart of the capital, for the third consecutive year, hip-hop fans, DJs, MCs and dancers who move to the sounds of the genre, will come together on the last Sunday of the month.

Kicking things off the right way at 6pm will be B-Boys and B-Girls, who will be battling things out on the dance floor to the musical vibes of DJ Johnny John.

Taking to the hip-hop stage will also be the Bassick Crew. The crew is made-up of eight elite dancers who have won the national championship called Battle of the Year twice in a row, and have taken part in numerous shows and video clips with some of the most recognised artists in Cyprus and Greece.

The art of expressing one’s self through hip-hop will also be showcased by the True Enforcers of Advance Movement dance group.

At 8.30pm the dance floor will turn into a stage for DJ Andreas Alex – aka Ice – and an open mic session, until 9pm when the line-up of MCs will take control of the microphone.

Sharing the stage, all the way from Greece will be MC Anser and Logos Apeilh, who both have a lot in common as they both live for hip-hop music and believe that there is a lot of art behind it.

The local MCs will be Julio, Smilin, Huanted Mics, De Bros, La Slave, Sergio Reper Outlaw and others.
