Driver arrested five times over the limit

A 34-year-old driver in Limassol was arrested early Thursday morning following an accident after being found to be over five times the legal alcohol limit.

Police were called to the scene of an accident in Constantinopoleos Street at around 2.45am. Under circumstances being investigated, a car being driven by the 34-year-old crashed into a parked car and was immobilised.

A preliminary breathalyser test registered 122mg of alcohol, the legally permitted level being 22mg.

The man was arrested after he refused to give a further sample.

Limassol traffic police are investigating.
