Pair arrested for possession of cocaine

A man and a woman from Poland where arrested by the drug squad in Larnaca on Friday evening on suspicion of possession of 1.1 kilos of cocaine.

The pair were arrested in a supermarket parking lot at around 9pm. Drug squad officers had placed them under surveillance after a tip off.

Inside a bag held by the woman, officers found 97 pellets containing around 1.1 kilos of cocaine.

The man said the drugs belonged to him. They were arrested and taken to the drug squad HQ in Larnaca where they were questioned.

They made various claims that were being investigated, police said. The two were expected to be brought before court on Saturday.
