Man arrested after assault

A 28-year-old tourist from Russia was arrested on Sunday in Ayia Napa after police said they had secured testimony against him for allegedly assaulting and injuring a compatriot of his, 27, who is in hospital.

Police said the victim, also a tourist, was attacked by the other man, who was reportedly a friend of his.

The 27-year-old was taken to Famagusta general hospital where he was being treated for head injuries.

Following investigations, police arrested the 28-year-old after securing a testimony that he was the one to attack the 27-year-old.
