Greek Cypriot arrested in Istanbul airport with cocaine stash

A 36-year-old Greek-Cypriot man from Nicosia has been arrested at Istanbul airport allegedly with two and a half kilos of cocaine hidden in his baggage, drugs believe to be destined for Cyprus as he was due to continue his journey to Tymbou (Ercan) airport in the north.

According to reports the man was apprehended after disembarking a flight from Sao Paolo, Brazil at around midnight on Sunday at Ataturk airport. The drugs were discovered in the walls of his suitcase, reports said.

The man is believed to have travelled to Brazil from Tymbou a few days ago.
