Purse stolen from Ukrainian tourist in fitting room

A Ukrainian tourist had her bag containing cash and a number of items stolen from a fitting room by two women as she shopped for clothes in a Larnaca shop.

Police say the women made a report to Larnaca CID a little after 11.30am on Monday, that within the preceding hour, her bag was taken from the dressing rooms of the premises, where she had left it unattended, having gone to choose clothes after trying some on earlier.

The woman said her passport, the sum of €1,250 in €50 notes, as well as two mobile phones, one of which is valued as €250 were taken, along with another €40 in various banknotes.

Investigators who visited the shop in question, after checking the CCTV installed in the premises, ascertained the culprits were a couple of young women who were described as thin and wearing dark sunglasses at the time the offence was carried out.

Larnaca CID are continuing investigations.
