Man arrested for disturbing the peace

A 34-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in Oroklini for allegedly disturbing the peace and verbally assaulting police officers.

Police said they received a report at around 6.30pm that an intoxicated man standing outside the building of Dighenis Oroklinis football club on Makarios Avenue, was causing great disturbance with his behaviour.

As soon as officers approached him, police said, he began verbally assaulting them, and continued to do so ever after his arrest and transport to the Oroklini police station.

After officers failed to calm him down he was transferred to the Larnaca general hospital’s A&E where he was given medication. He was then taken back to the police station where he was held in custody.
