Woman arrested after breaking through army camp gate to see her ex

A 39-year-old woman on Wednesday drove through the entrance barrier of a military camp in the Larnaca district, demanding to see her ex husband.

The incident happened at 10am, police said. The woman drove a light truck to the gate of the Aplanta camp, asking for permission to enter to see her ex, an NCO serving there.

The guard refused to let her through and the woman accelerated, broke the steel bar, and entered the barracks.

She was stopped by officers who also notified Kofinou police.

Officers arrived on the scene and arrested the woman who was also a suspect in an arson attack.

Earlier, fires had broken out at the Anglisides home of her former mother-in-law, and a car belonging to her ex.

The woman was examined by a psychiatrist who decided that she required mandatory hospitalisation.
