A thrilling new body of work

On Tuesday, Gloria Gallery in Nicosia begins its new season with the opening of the exhibition entitled An Abstract Crime Thriller by artist Pindaros Michaelides.

The exhibition, that will open at 7.30pm, is Michaelides’ second exhibition at the gallery and presents new work that was created during the artist’s stay on our island this past year. The outcome is a composition of a series of paintings and drawings where the artist further explores the narrative of abstraction that has preoccupied him throughout his creative career.

This new series gave Michaelides the chance to experiment with new materials and techniques, while also giving him the chance to test the addition of a new poetic element to his existing visual and metaphysical order.

His former use of intense tonal chromaticism and elaboration of signs at the limit of geometry, is enriched in these new works by the incorporation of a new symbolism, a reference to art history, and allegorical allusions.

As the title suggests, An Abstract Crime Thriller creates a new perceptive dimension of the visual field that challenges the viewer in an interactive way.

The exhibition will remain open until October 27.
