Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus beat Marcel Granollers at the Japan Open on Tuesday

Marcos Baghdatis beat Spain’s Marcel Granollers in three sets in the last 32 of the Japan Open in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Cyprus star Baghdatis, ranked 35 in the world, raced out of the traps and easily took the first set 6-1. Granollers fought back to take the second set 6-3, but Baghdatis raised his game again in the decider, which he won 6-3.

Baghdatis will now face the winner of the match between Tomas Berdych and Gilles Muller.
