Post mortem for man who appears to have died in his sleep

A 40-year-old man was found dead in a boat late on Monday evening in Ayia Napa.

At around 11pm police were informed by the Famagusta General Hospital that a person had died on a boat which was moored at a pier of an Ayia Napa hotel.

They found the dead man, an Egyptian national, on the vessel where he had been working. During the evening, he fell asleep and was snoring loudly on and off.

Later, when other crew members tried to wake him, they realised he had died.

The 40-year-old had no external injuries and police ruled out the possibility of a crime.

The exact causes of death are expected to be revealed at a post mortem which is going to be carried out on Tuesday morning at the Larnaca General Hospital.
