Company registrations up 21% in September, company registrar says

The number of company registrations rose in September 21 per cent to 1,132, which is the third-highest in 2016 compared with the respective month of 2015, the department of company registrar and official receiver said.

From January to September, total company registrations rose an annual 23 per cent to 9,798, which is the highest since 2013, the department said in an emailed statement.

The number of company names approved rose 3.9 per cent in September and 14 per cent in January to September compared to the respective period of 2015, the company registrar said.

The number of document submissions fell 22 per cent to 10,593 in September and 5.1 per cent to 93,855 in January to September compared with the respective period last year, the department said. The issue of certified copies rose 15 per cent in September to 26,268 and 9.4 per cent in the first nine months of the year to 227,551.

The number of company registrations reflects also demand for services offered by domestic business service providers to non-Cypriot customers.
