Customs confiscate over 4,000 counterfeit items from shops

The customs department announced Friday the seizure of over 4,000 counterfeit items in operations carried out in the Famagusta district a day earlier.

Six shops in the areas of Protaras and Paralimni were checked in raids by customs officers looking for goods violating intellectual property rights laws.

From investigations carried out a total of 4,040 fake pieces, including clothing, bags, wallets, sun glasses, perfumes, jewellery and other items were confiscated by the department.

Customs say they are investigating the offences and the seized items will be destroyed in accordance with the normal procedures.
