Harmonised inflation seen at -0.4% in September, Cystat says

Cyprus’s harmonised consumer price index dropped 0.4 per cent in September compared both to the respective month of 2015 and August, the statistical service said.

In January to September, the harmonised consumer price index fell an annual 1.4 per cent, Cystat said in a statement on its website on Tuesday.

The drop in prices in September was mainly due to reduced energy prices which fell an annual 7.6 per cent, more than offsetting a 2.4 per cent increase in prices of food, non-alcoholic beverages and tobacco, Cystat said. Prices for non-energy industrial products and services fell 0.2 per cent and 0.7 per cent respectively.
