Dust warning

The public, and especially vulnerable groups, have been urged to avoid going outdoors in certain areas because of increased dust levels in the atmosphere, the labour inspection department warned.

The average hourly concentration of dust particles in the atmosphere at 9am in Nicosia ranged between 154μg/m3 (microgrammes per cubic metre) and 31μg, exceeding the 50μg/m3 threshold set by the law.

High dust concentration was also recorded in Larnaca, Zygi, Limassol, and Paphos.
