President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci will hold a new meeting on Thursday in the framework of ongoing UN-backed talks for a Cyprus settlement.

The meeting is due to start at 11am within the now defunct Nicosia airport.

In statements to the press following the previous meeting last week, Anastasiades said that no interim agreement can take place and that they had discussed issues concerning competencies of the central government, of the constituent states, but also the responsibility that the state will have toward international obligations, so that there will be no oversight for the implementation of the obligations of the federal Republic of Cyprus.
