Foreign minister in Luxembourg to attend EU Councils

Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides departs Sunday for Luxembourg, to attend the Foreign and General Affairs Councils, on October 17 and 18 respectively. Kasoulides will also attend an extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council on Trade, in Tuesday.

According to an official announcement, the Foreign Affairs Council will discuss the situation on migration and EU-Tunisia relations. EU Foreign Affairs Ministers will also discuss the situation in Syria.

At the General Affairs Council, on October 18, preparations for the European Council on 20-21 October 2016 are expected to be concluded. Ministers will take note of the state of play on the mid-term review of the EU`s multiannual budgetary framework for 2014-2020.

At the extraordinary meeting, the Council will be called on to adopt a package of decisions on the comprehensive economic and trade agreement with Canada (CETA).

Kasoulides returns to Cyprus on Wednesday, October 19.
