BoC CEO receives Reaction youth award

BANK of Cyprus CEO John Patrick Hourican was chosen as an honorary member by road safety NGO Reaction for his support of their work.

“Every year, the NGO awards an individual or organisation that has supported both the actions of Reaction and Cypriot youth and society in general,” head of the NGO Marios Stavrou said at the award ceremony.

The award depicts a silver olive tree with fruits, which according to mythology is a symbol of tranquillity, protection, fertility, peace and immortality.

“For us at Reaction this award is identified with a real olive tree which is planted in the garden of our offices,” Stavrou explained. “We had it in a small pot from the first day Reaction was established and when we went to our own offices planted it in our garden.”

This year’s award decision was based on the cooperation between the NGO and the Bank of Cyprus in many activities and projects aimed at raising awareness and educating young people about issues that affect them.

“The operation of the oncology centre and the cultural foundation confirms the correctness of our decision to nominate the CEO of the Bank of Cyprus,” Stavrou concluded.
