Stavrinides announces his candidacy for Nicosia mayor

Panayiotis Stavrinides, 42, a professor of psychology at the University of Cyprus, on Saturday announced his candidacy for mayor of Nicosia, pledging to work on restoring the capital’s lost glamour.

Speaking at the end of Ledra Street, just a stone’s throw away from where the Green Line divides the capital, Stavrinides said his plan viewed Nicosia as a single and live unit, through which the capital would regain its lost appeal.

His plan is based on infrastructures, sustainable development, and resident participation in all aspects of daily life.

Stavrinides urged residents to unite in claiming their city and to deliver it to the next generation united.
