The Cypriot Junior Culinary team won a silver medal in this year’s culinary Olympics on Sunday.
“The national junior culinary team has now set the bar in our country very high by winning the silver in such an important global competition,” the Cyprus chefs association announced on Monday, praising the excellent professional skills, dedication and hard work of the winners all of which were awarded at the competition.
In their announcement, the association congratulated national teams director Panayiotis Charalambous and team manager Antonis Nicolaou who, as they said, “are working tirelessly together with the teams to get the best results in competitions worldwide.”
Cyprus chefs have taken part in the Olympics, which are hosted in Germany ever since they were launched in 1896, since 2008. Actually, 2008 was their most successful year as they won eight gold medals and 18 silver medals.
This year, from October 22 to 24, thirty chefs from Cyprus joined 2000 chefs from 40 countries in the event. Twelve were in the national team, eight in the regional team and ten in the junior team whose members are up to 25 years old.
