Man arrested after assaulting several people, including police officers

A 29-year-old man was arrested on Sunday after he attacked and injured several people including three police officers in Nicosia.

The incident happened at around 11am.

The man attacked an employee of a department store in Nicosia without apparent reason. Security guards took him to an office where he beat two more people, fracturing the nose of one.

When members of the police force arrived at the scene, the 29-year-old pushed one of them and slightly injured two.

He was arrested and taken to Nicosia General hospital because he claimed he was not feeling well.

At the hospital he attacked another police officer who was accompanying him before taken into custody.

He was examined by a psychiatrist whose initial assessment suggested he was suffering from mental problems.
