A 69-year-old former policeman is due before Limassol court on Thursday after ammunition was found hidden in his residence.

CID officers, who carried out a check at his Limassol district house on Wednesday afternoon, discovered 175 bullets and three magazines used for holding the ammunition concealed in the wooden ceiling of one of the bedrooms.

The former officer, who is said so far to have not given adequate explanations for the evidence found, spent the night in a holding cell and is expected to be brought before court by midday Thursday.
