Cypriot stone carved into perfection

The Collection Gallery in Nicosia will present works by sculptor Yiannis Yiannis under the collective name Momentum 2016 as of Wednesday.

Yiannis has been working with Cypriot stone for more than 35 years and occasionally with granite and marble. His work varies from artistic sculptures to a big range of architectural elements.

Recently he sculpted the emblem of Cypriot democracy at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia, and a large monument entitled I Love Ayia Napa.

His work can be seen in the Byzantine Museum of the Archbishop Makarios III, in public spaces, plazas and private collections.

The collection to be presented on Wednesday is a series of new works that the sculptor has been working on over the last three years.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by Dr Ioannis Eliades, Byzantinologist, Art Historian and Director of the Byzantine Museum of the Archbishop Makarios III Foundation and Cultural Center at 7.30 pm.
