House President begins official visit to Iran

House Speaker Demetris Syllouris

House President Demetris Syllouris on Sunday begins a three-day official visit to Iran at the invitation of the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Ardeshir Larijani.

Syllouris will be received by the President of Iran Hassan Rouhani and the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, who will host a dinner in his honour.

During the meeting with Larijani, the Chairman and Members of the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran will also be present. The Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi is also the Chairman of the Friendship Group of Iran with Cyprus.

Syllouris will also meet with the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Shamkhani, the Chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council of Iran, former President of Iran, Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the Foreign Minster, Mohammad Javad Zarif, and the Advisor of the Supreme Leader on External Relations, former FM, Ali-Akbar Velayati.

During his stay in Iran, Syllouris will visit sites of historic and cultural interest. He returns to Cyprus on Wednesday.
