Green party protests over hare cigarette photo

The Green party on Monday protested the action of hunters to place a lit cigarette in the mouth of a dead hare and post a photo of it on social media.

Sunday was the first day of the hunting season and the beginning “of the unacceptable behavior of certain so-called hunters,” the party said in a written statement.

The party expressed its indignation and demanded measures be put in place to deal with such incidents.

“The ones in question, after killing their quarry, chose to display it on social media, dead with a cigarette in its mouth.”

Unfortunately, the party said, such phenomena of displaying the dead quarry on the internet continued and were increasing on a daily basis without the state taking any measures.

The Green party said it had submitted a bill that banned such actions but it was still pending in parliament.

It said that the incident had been reported to the Game Fund and the hunters’ federation.
