Greek man arrested in Ayia Napa after cannabis, scales found

A Greek national was arrested on Wednesday in Ayia Napa on drug charges after cannabis and a set of scales were found in his flat.

Police said the drug squad raided the 33-year-old’s residence in the popular seaside resort after securing a judicial warrant.

During a search of the flat they discovered around 13 grammes of herbal cannabis on a table along with electronic precision scales on which about two grammes of the drug were being weighed. A plastic grinder and €360 in cash were also found.

The man was arrested and taken to the Famagusta offices of the drug squad where police say he gave a written statement admitting to offences after which he was kept overnight.

Famagusta drug quad are continuing investigations.
