Leaders begin discussion on territory criteria

Mont Pelerin

President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci on Wednesday begin discussions on the criteria for territory during their negotiations in Mot Pelerin in Switzerland.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9am local time. According to CNA sources the two leaders will be accompanied by the two negotiators, Andreas Mavroyiannis and Ozdil Nami.

Greek Cypriot sources have said that the most important criterion is the number of the refugees that will be able to return under Greek Cypriot administration.

They also reiterated the importance of having an agreement on the criteria that will then be used in order to draw a map. Furthermore, they noted that no location names will be discussed but only the percentage of the territory of each constituent state.

Anastasiades and Akinci began intensive negotiations on Monday on territory and all other outstanding issues interdependently. The talks in Switzerland are scheduled to be concluded on November 11.
