Smooth sounds for a smokin’ Sunday

This Sunday won’t be the first time that the trumpet of Andreas Polyzogopoulos meets the sounds of Andreas Rodosthenous, Giorgos Morfitis and Stelios Xydias, but for those of us who haven’t heard the trumpeter play with the Urban Trio, a new musical experience is about to be had.

Yes, this could be said about almost any musical act the first time you see them perform. But the strong emotional moments created by these notes, and the way they are balanced between nostalgia for a lost musical era and a passion for unique sound, is what makes this coming-together click every time it happens.

Using their personal sound and a unique way of expression, the four musicians will perform compositions by the bass player Rodosthenous, as well as original pieces from Polyzogopoulos’ personal albums. Their music is formed through the experiences the four musicians share while performing together, but also from experimentation and the long list of influences each one has.

Urban Trio Featuring Andreas Polyzogopoulos
Live performance by the musicians. November 20. Windcraft Music Centre, 27 Xanthis Xenierou, Nicosia. 9pm. €10/8. Tel: 22-377748
