Greek Cypriot police said on Monday that a Turkish Cypriot taxi driver told them he had been stopped and beaten up near the checkpoint in Ayios Dhometios on Monday afternoon.

“According to the Turkish Cypriot taxi driver, he was cut up in his car in the Ayios Pavlos area by two men riding a motorcycle. He said that after stopping his vehicle, they swore at and assaulted him,” police said.

Reports say 25-year-old Ali Karapasa was taken to Nicosia general hospital for first aid, and that Nicosia CID were looking into the case.
