Man wanted over human organ trafficking arrested

Police in Larnaca on Tuesday arrested a 77-year-old Israeli man wanted in the neighbouring country in connection with human organ trafficking.

The man was arrested at his home in Aradhippou at around 1pm.

He is wanted in Israel, which had issued an international arrest warrant, in connection with human organ trafficking, carrying out transplants without authorisation, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, circulation of counterfeit documents, and extortion.

He is expected to appear before a court on Wednesday. Police will ask for a remand order pending the extradition process.
