ONE PONTIAN wanted in connection with a burglary of a house in Pyla is still on the run police have said. A second man, who was an alleged accomplice, had been detained by police.

The two men had reportedly taken a compatriot, who was unconscious to Larnaca General Hospital of Sunday night.

The doctor, who examined the man in the car of his compatriots and pronounced him dead, spotted a television set, a safe and large screwdriver and notified the police.

The safe was subsequently found outside Larnaca general hospital.

The safe had been stolen from a house in Pyla. The burglary had been reported to the police by the nephew of the house owner, a UK resident, after he had been told by a neighbour that the back door of the house was open.

Apart from the safe two television sets had also been taken. Police, who on Tuesday morning visited the scene, found the back door had been forced open.

The nephew recognised the safe found outside Larnaca hospital as the one belonging to his aunt. It was empty.
