Police are investigating a spate of arson that targeted four cars in the Nicosia and Limassol districts.

Two cars – owned by a 64-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman – that were parked outside their owners’ house in Mesa Geitonia in Limassol were in flames just after midnight.

One of the cars, the 64-year-old told police, had been parked outside the house just 10 minutes before it was torched.

Two more cars, owned by a 70-year-old and a 64-year-old were damaged by fire early Sunday in Lakatamia, in Nicosia.

Police said that at around 4.45am two cars parked close together caught fire. The cars were parked outside the homes of their owners, who are neighbours, while both had car covers on, police said.

The flames, which damaged the one car slightly and the other more severely, were put out by the fire service. Police believed it was arson.
