Jobless figure rises in November, as hotels close for winter

The number of registered unemployed rose by 6,940 in November, the beginning of the winter season in the hospitality industry, to 40,646, and by 467 to a seasonal adjusted, 38,244, the statistical service said.

The seasonal increase in November only partly eroded the 6.8 per cent year-on-year drop in registered unemployed, and 7.8 per cent in the seasonally adjusted figure, Cystat said in a statement on its website.

Compared to November last year, the number of unemployed fell mainly because of 1,107 less jobless people in construction, 627 in manufacturing, 406 in transport, 387 in trade, and 360 in public administration, Cystat said.
