Arson suspected in Livadia car blaze

Police say a fire, which completely destroyed a car in Livadia early Wednesday, was put out by the fire services, with arson not ruled out.

“At around 4.20am Wednesday, a fire in a 46-year-old’s car, which was parked in the parking space of his residence in Larnaca district, was spotted,” police said.

“Due to the fire, which was put out by the fire service, the car was completely destroyed. The exact cause of the fire will be determined this morning.”

Reports say the double cabin pick-up truck was worth around €8,000 and that it appeared from preliminary investigations by Larnaca CID that the fire had been set maliciously.

Oroklini police are continuing investigations.
