Turk caught heading for London with fake Bulgarian passport

A young Turkish man was apprehended at Larnaca airport on Wednesday while attempting to board a flight to London using a forged Bulgarian passport.

According to the police, at 4.30am the 22-year-old man who told them he wanted to travel to Britain to work, presented a Bulgarian passport which when checked, was verified as being a fake.

Police said that on being questioned the man admitted to having entered Cyprus through the north and coming to the government controlled areas through an unknown point. He also told them he had procured the passport from an unknown person in the north, at a cost of €2,000.

In a search carried out on the man, his real passport was discovered, verifying his Turkish origin.
