Around 50 football hooligans raided the clubhouse of rival fans on Friday evening, injuring one person and causing extensive damage, police said.
The attack took place at around 9pm, police said. Some 50 people who wore the colours of Anorthosis and had their faces covered, raided the Nea Salamina fan club, located next to the main entrance of Ammohostos, the stadium, which had just hosted a game between the two teams. Salamina won the match, 2-1.
Wielding clubs, the mob smashed the furniture and glass windows. Ten people were inside the club at the time; nine managed to escape while one was assaulted by the hoodlums, suffering head injury.
The man, 19, was taken to hospital where he received stitches before he was discharged. The 19-year-old later declined to give police a statement citing his injuries.
