Delivery man mugged on sandwich delivery

A delivery man was mugged by two individuals while delivering some sandwiches in Nicosia on Monday evening, police said.

The man had arrived in Ayios Dhometios at 10.30pm looking to deliver four sandwiches that had been ordered by phone.

When he got to the location, a man who had been hiding in a dark spot hit him in the head with an unknown object and tried to snatch his money.

A second individual grabbed the order before they both got into a waiting car and fled the scene.

The delivery man was treated in hospital. He told officers that the two assailants had been wearing the hoods of their sweatshirts during the incident.
