Green Monday kite-flying prohibited near airports

The civil aviation department on Tuesday asked the public to refrain from flying kites around Paphos and Larnaca airports on Green Monday.

The department warned that kites flying near the runways may endanger flights and cause concern for pilots.

Green Monday, the start of the Greek Orthodox Lent which is on February 27 this year is traditionally the day when people have picnics in the countryside and fly kites.
