Teenager dies in road crash

Andreas Alexiou, 17, was killed when his motorbike collided head on with a bus in Larnaca on Saturday evening.

The bus driver, a 56-year-old man from Livadia, was about to turn right into Filiou Tsigarides Street at around 10.40pm, apparently cutting off the teenager who was coming from the opposite direction.

The young man, a resident of Livadia, was thrown on the asphalt and fatally injured.

He was rushed to Larnaca general hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Alexiou was not wearing a crash helmet at the time of the accident.

The bus driver was arrested. An breathalyser test came up negative.
