Three arrested during football trouble

Three people were slightly injured and police arrested three people in connection with crowd trouble after Sunday’s football game between Apollon and Apoel in Limassol.

Shortly after the start of the match a flare was hurled by the home fans in the direction of Apoel followers at the Tsirio stadium injuring two, aged 31 and 17.

They were taken to Limassol general hospital, treated and discharged.

After the end of the match, which Apollon won 2-1, home fans hurled stones injuring a police officer.

He was also taken to hospital, treated and released.

Police arrested two men, 27 and 20, for throwing stones and another man, 35, was detained for shouting abuse.
