Bar review: Chocco Coffee and Wine House, Paphos

Chocco coffee and wine house is a great little venue set back from a busy main road in Chlorakas, an ideal spot.

Chocco is well put together and so much more than coffee house, although their coffee is good. Serving the well-known Italian brand, Ily, staff can whip you up all sorts of coffees in addition to all sorts of teas, hot chocolate, smoothies, juices and other soft drinks, a selection of wines by the glass or bottle, beers and ciders.

Open seven days a week from 8.30am, they will this week start working as an early evening wine bar, until 9pm.

Gormet sandwiches which are freshly prepared daily, pay homage to local areas – such as Tala tuna crunch, Chlorakas country chicken and Tsada Tortilla. They are fresh, hearty and value for money and gluten free bread and vegan options with lactose free cheese are also available.

Salads, cakes and savouries including quiches and traditional British pies, sausage rolls and Cornish pasties are also on sale, as are individual treacle tarts, which are superb.

Staff are smartly dressed, well presented, friendly and efficient and greet customers with a smile.

The venue also has a good size patio space at the front with comfy seating and shade for patrons who wish to socialise and watch the world go by. The interior is thoughtfully and brightly decorated; high ceilings and large windows make this a light and airy space. Seats and sofas are comfortable and provide a great place to relax and read a good book.

Wifi is offered free and wine tasting events are held from time to time. Live entertainment will be provided by popular local singer Michael Antoniou. Further details are available on their Facebook page.

It’s no surprise that this family run business has already garnered a healthy number of repeat customers and even if you’re not passing through Chlorakas, it’s worth making a trip to this venue just to try it out.
