CoE session kicks off in Nicosia on Friday

The 127th Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE), featuring 28 foreign ministers, takes place in Nicosia on Friday.

The session will be the last event under Cyprus’ chairmanship of the CoE.

The CoE’s Convention on Offences relating to Cultural Property – the only international treaty specifically dealing with the criminalisation of illicit trafficking of cultural property, such as the plundering of Palmyra by ISIS – will be open for signature at the session.

Russia’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov will be among the attendees.
