Man arrested for alleged attack on his uncle

A man was arrested after he threatened and injured his uncle in Kiti on Sunday evening in what appeared to be a case of intimidation in relation to a court case.

A 51-year-old man, a resident of Kiti, reported to police that at 8pm his 40-year-old nephew came to his farm in the area and allegedly threatened that unless his relative withdrew a court case against him he would hurt him.

The younger man continued to insult and attack his uncle, injuring various part of his body, police said.

The injured man was transferred to Larnaca general hospital where a doctor examined him and prepared a report.

His nephew whose legs were hurt in the scuffle was arrested at 11.15pm after he was seen by a doctor at the hospital.

The 51-year-old had filed a case against his nephew involving offences of assault, public insults and threats which is due in court on September 6.

The attacker is expected to be charged and released.
