Cyprus’ fourth Pride Parade kicked off in Nicosia on Sunday under the auspices of President Nicos Anastasiades and Nicosia Mayor Constantinos Yiorkadjis.
The theme of this year’s Pride festival is Speak Love and is aimed at combatting homophobic and transphobic hate speech.
On Sunday the festivities began with activities for children and teenagers between 3pm and 5pm, followed by the parade in the city centre with music from Evridiki and the Boomdida African Beatz.
At 7pm the party was to begin in the municipal gardens that includes a Drag Show featuring Miss Drag Queen Holland 2016 ho is Amsterdam’s Gay Pride Ambassador for 2017. Cypriot Eurovision entrant Hovig was also due to perform, followed by DJ Mike Wildcut and then DJ Marcos.
Entrance to the party is free.
