Jailed for causing fatal accident

A 64-year-old man from Limassol was sentenced on Friday to six months in prison after being found guilty for causing a fatal road accident in which a 52-year-old man died, police reported on Monday.

The accident occurred in April 2013 on Makarios Avenue in Limassol, when the car driven by the 64-year-old crashed into a motorcycle driven by the 52-year-old. Due to the collision, the motorcycle overturned and the 52-year-old was killed instantly.

The court also imposed a seven-point penalty on the 64-year-old’s driving licence and asked that it is taken away from him for a year.
