Jobless figure below 30,000 after almost six years

The number of registered unemployed fell in May an annual 12 per cent and a monthly 8.8 per cent to 29,922, and for the first time below the 30,000 since October 2011, the statistical service said.

The number of unemployed dropped 1.8 per cent in May compared to April –or an annual 11 per cent— to a seasonally adjusted 34,281, Cystat said in a statement on its website on Tuesday.

The drop in the number of jobless last month was mainly on a 1,299 decrease of unemployed in public administration, 1,238 in construction, 636 in trade, 518 in manufacturing and 190 in transport, Cystat said.
