Tourist died from accidental drowning

A post-mortem revealed on Monday that a 76-year-old female tourist from Germany who lost consciousness while swimming in Pyla, Larnaca, on Sunday morning died from accidental drowning.

State pathologist Sophocles Sophocleou who carried out a post mortem on Monday said no external injuries were found and concluded the tourist had drowned.

According to police, the woman, who was staying with relatives in Dhekelia, lost consciousness while swimming at about 11am. She was taken by ambulance to Larnaca general hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
