Jewellery shop break-in in Larnaca

Thieves broke into a jewellery shop in Larnaca in the early hours on Thursday and stole jewellery of as yet unknown value.

Police were notified at around 2.15am that the alarm system of the shop at the end of Larnaca’s Ermou street had gone off.

When officers arrived at the scene they were told a vehicle had been parked in the vicinity of the shop which at some point sped off.

Apart from the driver, who was described as thin, young and was wearing a white shirt there were three people in the car.

The perpetrators had broken the front glass door with a hammer and stolen a number of items.

The owner was called to the scene which police cordoned off.

The value of the stolen objects which were not covered by insurance has not yet been determined.
