Customs seizes fake goods

Customs officers have seized a total of 9,503 counterfeit items worth around €50,000 in Ayia Napa, they announced on Tuesday.

They include clothing, hats, sunglasses, bags, wallets, towels and watches of various brands including Adidas, Nike, Puma, Hello Kitty, Ray Ban, Prada and Fendi.

A shop and two warehouses were searched in the day-long operation on Monday to detect fake items violating property rights laws.

Customs say they are investigating the offences and the seized items will be destroyed in accordance with normal procedures.
